Tampa, FL, March 2, 2017 – Women’s Exchange member Kelly Flannery is celebrating one year on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida (GSWCF). The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. With programs for girls from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to do something amazing.

Just one year after Girl Scouts was founded in 1912, the second troop in the nation found its roots right here in Tampa at Hyde Park United Methodist Church. Today, GSWCF serves nearly 20,000 girls and nearly 8,500 adult members in Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sumter counties.

As the president and CEO of the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Kelly works with business owners and community leaders each day to make South Tampa the best place to live, work and play. Kelly is a graduate of The Florida State University with a B.S. in Political Science. Prior to her work at the Chamber, her background includes sales, marketing and management for Marriott, ClubCorp and GrillSmith Restaurants.

A Tampa native, Kelly is actively involved in the community as an Honorary Commander at MacDill Air Force Base, a member of the City of Tampa Citizen’s Budget Advisory Committee, and a member of the board of directors for the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals and the Centre Club. Kelly is a two-time finalist for the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Business Woman of the Year and was named the 2017 Tampa Bay Business & Professional Women Foundation’s “Woman of the Year.”

Established in 1926, the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce is an association of more than 600 businesses and organizations who enjoy social activities and community involvement, voted the #1 Chamber in Tampa Bay by the readers of the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
